Everything you need to know about your first choice – Doctors Eyecare – for eye health

Doctors Eyecare is an independent, full scope optometry clinic, where we focus on diagnosing and managing a range of eye diseases, such as dry eye, glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration, to name but a few.

We launched on 1 November 2020, and despite being shut down for three months during the first wave of COVID, we were still available to our emergency patients whenever they needed us.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, we have focused on upgrading our HVAC system, to provide sterilized air in our practice throughout the day, ensuring the safety of even our most at risk patients.

We service the greater Grand Prairie area, and make great efforts not to neglect surrounding areas, owing to our convenient practice hours of 11 am to 8 pm Tuesday and 9 am to 5 pm Wednesday to Friday. Saturday and Monday by appointment only.

The Doctors EyeCare Grande Prairie Difference

You will always be met with a smile, and patients become family. Our core team of four are excited to celebrate every victory, and lament every strife – creating a feeling of community, the “be the village” for our patients. At Doctors Eyecare, you and your family will never be just a number.

Our comprehensive eye tests and emergency treatments have always kept us ahead of the pack. We are skilled in diagnosing eye diseases and facilitating treatment options early, which we achieve with the aid of the latest high-tech equipment, including retinal cameras, OCT and visual fields.

Doctors Eyecare’s future vision is to continue investing in the very newest diagnostic tools, staying focused on the future of eyecare, so that our name becomes synonymous with the best in eye health.

We embrace the love of our environment, with the same passion as we do eyecare, and as such, we recycle 80% of the waste generated in our practice, and will be completely paperless within six months.

In the spirit of “paying it forward”, we sponsor a deserving and talented young hockey player, so that he may continue skating. As we grow, we plan to widen our impact in the community that carries us.

Written by Dr. Shonah Finlay

Dr. Finlay grew up by the gold mines in South Africa and knew from a young age she wanted to follow a medically related career. She applied to and was accepted to study optometry at the former Rand Afrikaans University in South Africa. During her last year of studies, Dr. Finlay worked on the Train of Hope: South Africa’s Phelophepa. This custom-built train (now 2) travels throughout rural South Africa to deliver top-quality primary healthcare to disadvantaged communities. It was a wonderful experience to bring sight to so many people that otherwise do without. Those memories always remind her of why she loves practicing optometry.
